Armed men have invaded the private home of Yoruba nationalist, Prof Banji Akintoye. The men entered the home shooting into the upholstery in the living room.
The incidence took place at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital where the renown Professor of history hails from.
Ilana Omo Oodua in a statement signed by Maxwell Adeleye its spokesperson said the attackers struck on Saturday after probably climbing a chair to scale the fence and enter into the private residence of the Yoruba icon.
This is the third time in less than one year that Prof Akintoye would be attacked at a time he was not in the home targeted by the invaders. Early this year, Akintoye survived attacks launched against him in his Magodo residence forcing him to relocate to Ile Ife from where he travelled out of the country on self exile.
Akintoye has been leading the campaign for Yoruba self determination.
Last year he got the Yoruba Nation to be listed in the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation, (UNPO). He alongside many Yoruba in the Diaspora led rallies this year at the United Nations, (UN) office in New York drawing global attention to Yoruba self determination drive.
Adeleye said the incidence has been reported at the police headquarters in Ekiti State
