Some ethnic groups in the Niger-Delta have rejected attempts to impose Biafra on their territories warning that the promoters of Biafra that included their ancestral land were courting social upheaval.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Niger-Delta Ethnic Solidarity Front, (NDESOF) said agitators for Biafra are bent on violent take over of their land vowing to resist the plot.
Last weekend, the acclaimed new Prime Minister of Biafra in a viral broadcast listed many territories in the Niger Delta and the Middle Belt as parts of Biafra. Some of the territories as part of Biafra are also in Ondo and Lagos States.
She announced the creation of 40 states in Biafra which included the entire Itsekiri, Ijaw, Ogoni, Urhobo and Isoko land. Other ethnic groups included were in today’s Cross Rivers, Plateau, Benue, Rivers and many ethnic groups in the Middle Belt.
‘This is tyranny. It is in line with the wild dream of late Chief Emeka Ojukwu to subjugate ethnic minorities in the Niger-Delta. The primary aim is to steal the oil resources of the indigenous people. This proclamation has shown clearly that the agenda of Biafra will be worse than what Nigeria is doing and has done to ethnic minorities’ the statement signed by Marcus Okoruma, Ehonwa Osagie and Kingsley Omatsola stated.
The group said ethnic minorities in the Niger-Delta will unite and thwart the imperialist agenda of the South East Igbo.
‘Nothing has changed. What the Igbo wants to do to ethnic minorities in the Niger-Delta and in the Middle Belt is genocide in progress. They have not led any consultations with the people, there has not been any meeting, there has not been any place our people agreed to join Biafra. It is obvious we are dealing with extremists without exception. Their sole agenda is to wipe off ethnic minorities and take over their land,’ the group stated.
The Niger-Delta Ethnic Solidarity Front said it has launched a massive mobilisation of the oil producing communities to resist Biafra and assert the right to self-determination of the people.
‘The South East wants to colonise us. We won’t forget how our parents were buried alive during the last civil war. We are not going to allow that to happen again. Our people hereby establish this resistance group to thwart Biafra and force back their desperation to conquer and subjugate the people,’ the group stated.
The group said agitation for Biafra is driven by greed, avarice and a wicked desire to promote the worst form of savage imperialism
