Abductors of the Lagos state People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) chairman, Philip Aivoji have demanded for a ransom of N200m

The PDP Chairman was kidnapped on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday.

Family sources told Irohinoodua that voice tone of the kidnappers indicated they were North or Yoruba extraction.

Irohinodua learnt that Philip and some of the party members were abducted at Ogere area of the Lagos-Ibadan highway

They were returning back to Lagos from the party’s stockholders meeting organized by the Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, in the state capital, Ibadan.

Our correspondent was informed that the armed men stormed the highway with sophisticated weapons. They were said to have overpowered his security details.

Sources told our correspondent that the abductors requested for N200m ransom for their release.

The spokesperson of the party in the state, Hakeem Amode, who confirmed the incident said security agencies at all levels will intervene to secure a smooth release of the hostages.

Amode who condemned the crime said the inability of government to eradicate kidnapping remains a big concern.

“It is disheartening that kidnapping has become a prevalent issue in our country, and the government’s inability to address this menace is deeply concerning,” he said.

“The abduction of Aivoji underscores the pressing need for decisive actions from the government and stakeholders to eradicate this menace.

“Aivoji’s abduction was a violent incident, and his current whereabouts or any communication from the abductors remain unknown” he said

The party has demands urgent action from security agencies for immediate release of the abductees.
