Journalist’s daughter set 40-year record, emerges LASU best graduating student with 5.00 CGPA

The Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo Campus, has produced its first graduate with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.00. It is the best result in the history of the 40 year old institution.
The Law graduate, Yusuf Aminat Imoitesemeh, who set the record is the daughter of Nigerian Journalist, Ibrahim Yusuf, who works with The Nation Newspapers.

LASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olatunji Bello, said the Best graduating student will be awarded with the sum of N500,000 by the school management.
She disclosed this during the Press Conference held in the institution on Wednesday. Irohinoodua was in attendance.
The convocation was a double ceremony for both 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions’ graduates.
The university is set to graduate a total of 10,183 students out of which 282 students obtained First Class degrees in different academic fields.
However, Yusuf Aminat is of the 2021/2022 academic session and topped the class with 5.00 CGPA while Lopez Feyisayo Divine, in the Department of Physiology in class 2020/2021 session topped her set with 4.91 CGPA.
The convocation lecture would hold on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, titled “The Impact of Digitalization on Higher Education In The Digital Age.”
The Guest Lecturer is the Executive Secretary, Tertia Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Sonny Echono.
The lecture would also be chaired by the Executive Secretary National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, at the institution main Auditorium, Ojo Campus.
According to her, Award for Diplomas, First Degrees, Postgraduate Deplomas and Masters degree will hold on Wednesday, 21st of June.
