We paid N2m to kidnappers in Ondo, victims fault police

A couple kidnapped by armed men in Ond State have said that husband and wife paid N2million to secure their release. The armed men spent some time counting the money in the presence of their victims before allowing them to go around 1am.
The victims, Mr and Mrs Ibikunle faulted police claims that they were rescued by security operatives. They were travelling from Eastern Nigeria to Akure when few hours before entering the state capital, they were stopped by heavily armed men who seized them at gun point leaving their little children behind. “I’m surprised with the claims that we were rescued by the police. This is nothing but a lie from the pit of hell. I can say it boldly that no security operative came to our aid. We were released around 1am after ransom was paid to them,” Ibikunle said adding “I’m weeping for this country, because we no longer have security.”
He said the kidnappers collected the ransom on the road without any air of fear. “Infact, they counted the money before they released us to my brother who brought the money.”
He said further “It is sad that our security operatives are no longer effective. The kidnappers carried out their operations with impunity. They boasted that they could kill any policeman that wanted to rescue us.”
