The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
The release came after weeks of expectations by anxious students and parents.
The announcement was made on Monday, August 12, via a post on the examination body’s official X account.
The post stated, “The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform Candidates who sat WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 12, 2024.”
WAEC’s Head of Nigeria Organization, Amos Dangut, also confirmed the release during a press briefing obtained by Irohinoodua.
He said results for 1,685,889 candidates (93.9%) have been released. Despite challenges posed by insecurity in various regions, 1,805,216 candidates registered for the examination.
According to Dangut, 1,332,089 candidates achieved credits in five subjects, including any subject combined with either Mathematics or English language, while 1,301,949 candidates earned credits in five subjects, including both Mathematics and English language, representing 72.9% of the total candidates. He noted a 7.6% decrease in performance compared to the 2023 WASSCE, with 215,267 results withheld due to examination malpractice, accounting for 11.92% of the total candidates.
Steps to Check Your WASSCE 2024 Results
Candidates can access their results online by following these steps:
- Visit the WAEC Results Portal: Go to https://waecdirect.org.
- Enter Your Examination Number: Input your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. This consists of your 7-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number (e.g., 4123456789). For exams before 1999, enter your 8-digit WAEC Examination Number, which is your 5-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number (e.g., 19865001).
- Enter the Examination Year: Provide the 4 digits of your Examination Year (e.g., 2024).
- Select the Examination Type: Choose the appropriate type of examination from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the e-PIN Voucher Number: Type in the e-PIN Voucher Number you received.
- Enter the PIN: Input the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your e-PIN.
- Submit Your Details: Click the “Submit” button and wait for the results window to load.
Following these steps will allow you to view your WASSCE results quickly and easily.
