US-Based Yoruba man joins race for California Governor

A middle aged man of Yoruba origin, Dr. Akinyemi Agbede, has joined the race to become the Governor of California in the United States.
The Yoruba born American is a well known mathematician and political figure.
He announced his candidacy for the upcoming California gubernatorial election, set to take place on November 3, 2026.
If successful, Dr. Agbede could make history as the first Nigerian-born individual to become governor of California. His declaration has sparked enthusiasm among friends, supporters, and political associates who praise his leadership abilities and dedication to public service.
The renowned mathematician, who has a deep understanding of California’s political landscape, previously ran for the U.S. Senate. However, his current bid for governor is buoyed by recent milestones in global politics, including the success of Kemi Badenoch as the Conservative Party Leader in the United Kingdom.
In his announcement, Dr. Agbede emphasized his commitment to serving California’s diverse communities.
“My relentless pursuit of the exalted position of governor in California is borne out of my commitment to serve the diverse communities of California. The campaign is expected to focus on educational reform, economic development, and social justice, these are issues that resonate deeply with voters across the state” he hinted while declaring his intention,” he stated.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Dr. Agbede brings a wealth of experience and an impressive academic background to the race. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematical Analysis from the University of Cambridge and has dedicated much of his career to empowering students through mathematics education.
According to a close associate, Daudu David, Dr. Agbede’s unique background and vision for California make him a strong contender.
