Tribunal throws Adeleke off dancing floor, affirms Oyetola as Osun Governor
By Samuel Ogunsona
The Governor of Osun State, Jackson Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke has been relieved of his position, albeit temporarily.
The election petition tribunal in Osun sacked Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in its ruling delivered today. It hinged the sack of the Governor noted for dancing and hip hop on over voting. He is expected to appeal the judgment.
The election held on July 16 2022 and brought Adeleke into power.
The tribunal on Friday held that that Adeleke did not score lawful votes to qualify him to be the Governor of Osun.
Justice Tetse Kume who leads the Tribunal had earlier dismissed the Court of Appeal judgement which said Adeleke was qualified to contest.
The three-man panel, the verdict was in favour of Oyetola.
The tribunal said there was over-voting and that Oyetola won with majority of the votes.
Irohinoodua learnt that the PDP will appeal the judgment. This means the legal tuzzle may continue for the next three months to know the rightful owner of the seat
