Third Coronavirus case in Ekiti dies after delivery

The third case of coronavirus infected patient in Ekiti has died, Irohinoodua was informed this morning.
The source said the patient died at the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC) located in Ido-Ekiti. This was after she had a safe delivery at a private hospital in the State capital, Ado Ekiti. The source said the private clinic was unaware of her status when she visited. She was said to have sneaked in from Lagos and had a laborious travel experience which may have complicated her case.
Sources close to the Health Ministry told Irohinoodua that the patient, a middle aged woman had had a safe delivery at a Private medical center located in the State
Ekiti is one of the most pro-active states since the index case was recorded in Nigeria in February. The State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi had submitted himself for test which turned negative. This was followed by massive public campaigns backed with lockdown extension even before the order was given by the Federal Government. Many have commended the state government for its efficient handling of COVID-19 cases in the state.
Ekiti has also recorded a remarkable number of recoveries among the few cases reported in the State.
Sources told our correspondent that the patient had a safe delivery of her baby at a Private hospital in Ado before being referred to FETHI, as a result of complication, where she eventually died.
The source said the Doctor at the private hospital where she delivered has tested positive to COVID-19.
