Terrorists attack Akeredolu’s Town, Owo scores killed in bloody explosion

By Abiodun Olagbegi

Scores of people were killed on Sunday in Owo, the ancestral home of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu. Many of those killed include women and children.

Irohinoodua correspondent observed scores of charred remains of people killed in the city’s historic Church

“There was an explosion. It looks like it was a deliberate terrorist attack. They explodes what looked like a bomb. Many lay dead” a clergy man and an official of the Church told Irohinoodua on Sunday.

The source said there were strong suspicion that the attack was masterminded by Islamic fundamentalists

“We have been under low scale attacks like kidnapping, killing of a prominent first class Olu of Ifon, the kidnap of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae and many others that have suffered in the hands of the herdsmen. This attack we strongly believe is not unconnected with the same people” Chief Ismail Alao a member of National Automobile Technicians of Nigeria, (NATA) told our correspondent in Owo on Sunday.

He said Akeredolu and the Ondo State police have been extremely diligent in dealing with armed terrorists from other parts of Nigeria saying that the bomb attack looks like a revenge against the onslaught being waged against the armed herdsmen in the state.
