Terrorism: DSS, military arrest over 400 funders

By Alkali Aliu

The Directorate of State Security, (DSS) in collaboration with the Directorate of Military Intelligence, (DMI) have arrested more than 400 business tycoons responsible for providing funds for extremist groups, Boko Haram and bandits.

Some of those arrested were Baba Usaini, Abubakar Yellow (Amfani), Yusuf Ali Yusuf (Babangida), Ibrahim Shani, Auwal Fagge, and Muhammad Lawan Sani, a gold merchant.

Our correspondent heard that those arrested are being kept in various police and DSS cells across the country and will be charged to court very soon

The bandits are believed to be mainly Hausa people fighting against occupation of their ancestral land spanning several decades.

Sources told Irohinoodua that the order for the compilation of the names of the sponsors was given late 2020.

” President Mohammadu Buhari gave the order that they should be arrested. This was after diligent investigation by the secret services in the police, army and DSS ” an official told Irohinoodua on Tuesday.

He said the funders are illegal miners, Bureau De Change operators and some politicians. The source said International Police, (INTERPOL) was very helpful in tracking the sources of the funds for the terrorists.

“The security operatives tracked the movement of cash through several transactions traced to the terrorists” the source said.

Those arrested were picked from Kano, Borno, Abuja, Lagos, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kaduna and Zamfara.
