Poor woman who wanted sex to raise N500 got N100k donation

By Aisha Abeeb

Desperate time requires desperate action and this is the case of an elderly woman from Igbore in Abeokuta who made a shocking or rather pitiable statement in a video that has gone viral on social media.

In the video which was viewed by Irohinoodua, the woman said she would do anything to get money to feed her children who were hungry even if she has to go as low as 500 Naira.

She noted that she would not mind sleeping with any man, as long as money was provided to feed her family that was almost dying of hunger. She had many children and her livelihood was cut short by the lockdown occasioned by the Coronavirus lockdown which seems to have prompted a mix of desperation, hunger, anger and even outright armed robbery by many Nigerians.

“I am hungry. There is no assurance from the government. No one is ready to help me and I have to make use of what t God has given me to help my children” she helplessly said.  When questioned further by her interviewer she said” I can have sex with any man. I don’t mind even for 500naira” The viral video drew local attention with many expressing deep concern for her plight. At the weekend however, fortune smiled at her as she was given a donation of N100,000 naira by popular artiste

Expressing her appreciation, she said she was glad that her life has changed tremendously due to the cash gift.

Barely two days after the aged woman’s cry, one of Nigeria’s popular musicians, Michael Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy put a smile on the face of the woman by gifting her the sum of one hundred thousand naira.

Her joy knew no bounds as she kept thanking and blessing the giver. This video no doubt underscores the level of poverty in the society which has been worsened by the lockdown directive.

Nigeria’s economy is made up of small business dominated by an informal economy that relies on daily income for survival.

The two-week old shutdown has floundered the fortunes of many Nigerians who see the lockdown bring to a halt sources of their daily  income.
