By Ologeh Joseph

The Nigerian Police have said that a certain British is connected with plots to overthrow the Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

On Monday, the police declared Andrew Wynne (also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey) wanted for acts of sabotage democracy and plans to overthrow the government.

Povey is a British citizen with a wide network among radical labour leaders in Nigeria..
Some sources said he is also connected to some entrenched political powers in the country. These claims have not been verified by our correspondent. Nigeria was a colonybof Britain. Since independence from Brittain in 1960, the country of 200m people has suffered years of economic and political turmoil orchestrated by Western intervention and manipulations.

Irohinoodua was informed that the police may not be able to extradite Povey eventhough Nigeria and Brittain have an extradition treaty.

The police said mercenaries and subversive people were planning to overthrow the government of Nigeria through a series of covert actions.

The Police Chief image maker, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this at Force Headquarters, Abuja said the British man hired a space at Labour House, Abuja, for an ‘Iva Valley Bookshop.’

He was said to have established ‘STARS of Nations Schools’ as a cover for his subversive activities.

Adejobi, an Assistant Commissioner Commissioner of Police, told journalists Nigeria is in possession of incriminating documents against Povey.

He said Andrew Wynne issued directives and monitored progress of the August protest in a well coordinated manner

Povey was accused of providing finance finance and operational guidance to achieve unconstitutional regime change in Nigeria.

He said, “The Nigeria Police Force has launched a comprehensive investigation into the activities of a foreign national and subversive elements plotting to undermine the democratically elected government in Nigeria through unconstitutional regime change and orchestrating violence across the country.

He said following extensive intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies, nine suspects have been apprehended, who received substantial financial backing from foreign sources to destabilize the country.

“Preliminary findings suggest they orchestrated and funded violent protests, disseminated false information, and engaged in other unlawful activities to create anarchy and justify their illegal plot to overthrow the democratically elected government,” the police said.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has already arrested some suspects in Kano.
