Retirees in Ekiti are to smile again.

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has approved payment of the sum N1b as gratuity to retirees in the state as part of efforts to offset backlog of outstanding gratuities.

Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Governor who has vowed to ensure retirees do not suffer in their old age.

The Special Adviser (Media) Mr Yinka Oyebode in a statement made available to Irohinoodua said the payment is in fulfillment of the Governor’s promise to prioritize welfare and wellbeing of workers and pensioners in the state.

He said it reflects the pledge of Oyebanji to put in place arrangement to offset backlog of gratuities owed by previous administrations.
