The Yoruba self determination rally scheduled for Saturday July 3 will hold as planned, organisers said on Wednesday.
In a chat with an aide of Chief Sunday Adeyemo(Igboho) the arrest of the leaders of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu will not affect the Lagos rally.
Speaking on Wednesday in a chat with our correspondent, Mr Taofik Adeyemi said efforts are in top gear for the rally.
‘We are not going to postpone the rally. It will hold. When Chief MKO Abiola was arrested, instead of dousing tension it increased the tempo of agitation. We are no cowards, the rally will hold as planned’ Adeyemi said
Sources told Irohinoodua that leaders of several Pan Yoruba groups met at Ibadan recently where a comprehensive plan was put in place for the planned rally.
Our correspondent was informed that the organisers plan a peaceful rally to be held at the Gani Fawehinmi park located in Ojota, Lagos.
For the purpose of the rally, several Pan Yoruba groups have come together under the aegies of Isokan Omo Yoruba Ronu to ensure mass participation in the rally.
Adeyemi urged Nigerians to disregard the social media reports that the rally has been postponed.
