OGUN Muslim community warns MURIC’s Ishaq Akintola
By Samuel Ogunsona
Muslim Commmunity in Ogun State have warned the leader of Muslim Rights Organisation of Nigeria, (MURIC) to desist from setting the people against each other using religion as a ploy.
In a statement on Thursday made available to Irohinoodua, the Ogun Community Muslim Professionals has warned Prof. Ishaq Akinola to stop sowing the seed of religious friction in Ogun state and across the country.
The group describe Ishaq Akinola as well known cynical speaker who promotes sectionism and relegious strife as his trademark.
The Community Professional Muslims added that muslims in the state had not at any time given him a mandate to act as their spokes person.
The Thursday statement signed by Saliu Adewusi, The Secretary in Abeokuta, said it took strong exception to the libelous allegation by the Akintola that Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun had sold the state to Christians.
The group described as a tissue of lies the study of appointments made by the Governor into the state commisions and board on 23r of July 2020 which MURIC said was in favour of Christians.
The group said the appointment showed that they reflected religious balance, merit and professional competence.
The group said Christians and Muslims have lived in harmony for generations in Ogun state and entire Southwest part the country warning the Yoruba people to be defend their heritage from those bent on destroying the Yoruba plural civilisation.
The CMC observed that Akintola’s incendiary rhetoric was laughable considering that key officials of the Abiodun-led administration, including the state Deputy Governor, Chief of Staff, Chief Economic Adviser/Commissioner of Finance and Head of Service are all devout Muslims.
“We make bold to say that there is no family in Ogun State without an admixture of Christians and Muslims, and that our people have over the years given ample indication of the fact that they are not religious fanatics, but people bonded by a common cultural bond and united in the objective of achieving excellence in all spheres of life.
“Indeed, the fact is well-known that during festivities like Eid-il-Kabir and Christians, Muslims and Christians in Ogun State celebrate with one another without any religious sentiments and emotions.
“Both Christians and Muslims supported Governor Ibikunle Amosun during his eight-year tenure, and both Muslims and Christians gave Prince Dapo Abiodun a mandate to pilot the affairs of Ogun State, and they are solidly behind him in his drive to build a prosperous future for the state.
“We urge Governor Abiodun to ignore the antics of the MURIC propagandist whose divisive antics is well known to Nigerians.”
