The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Edo State, Odion Olaye, has confirmed the increase of workers’ minimum wage which to N70,000.
The state workers previously earned N40,000 as minimum wage before the implementation of the new salary structure.
The Chairman who confirmed the implementation of the new salary structure for workers applauded the Governor, Godwin Obaseki, for keeping to his promise.
Gov. Godwin Obaseki during the inauguration of the new Labour House in Edo state had announced a new salary structure which came with an increment in minimum wage on April 29.
Obaseki said the new initiative is part of his efforts to cushion the economic hardship created by the Federal Government’s fuel subsidy removal.
Odion who confirmed the implementation of the new salary structure expressed his appreciation to Obaseki
“I can confirm to you that the salary increase has been effected and workers are now earning N70,000 as minimum wage. I commend the governor for this.
“I will also urge the workers who are wealth creators to reciprocate the kind gesture of the governor and redouble their efforts towards making the state great,” Odion stated.
