A Nigerian-British of Yoruba stock has emerged as the leader of the British Conservative Party, making her one of the most powerful people in the world.
Kemi Badenoch is from Ondo town. His father, Dr Femi Adegoke was a Yoruba self determination activist who passed on few years ago. He was the leader of Voice of Reason, a Pan Yoruba movement.
Kemi was also the former British Business Secretary.
She emerged as the new leader of the Conservative Party, defeating Robert Jenrick in the final round of voting that took place this weekend.
Badenoch, raised in Nigeria, is the first black woman to lead the Conservative Party in the history of the United Kingdom
She replaces Rishi Sunak as leader of the opposition.
She scored winning 53,806 votes against 41,388 for Jenrick, in a result announced by the party on Saturday morning.
