November 24, 2024 is the deadline for electricity consumers to upgrade their meter, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has said.
The company said it would begin the Standard Transfer Specification (STS) 2.0 meter upgrade for metered customers on Thursday, October 31, 2024 in a statement made available to Irohinoodua.
This upgrade, essential due to the impending expiration of the current vending platform, promises to enhance efficiency for customers.
To complete the upgrade, EKEDC advises customers to:
- Visit http://kctcheck.ekedp.com, enter their meter number, and retrieve two 20-digit Key Change Tokens (KCTs).
- Enter the first KCT and press “Enter,” then repeat with the second KCT to finish the upgrade.
Alternatively, customers purchasing electricity units will receive two KCTs along with their regular token, which they must load to upgrade.
Babatunde Lasaki, General Manager of Corporate Communications and Strategy, reminded customers to load any existing tokens before using the KCTs, as old tokens will no longer work post-upgrade. The deadline to complete the upgrade is November 24, 2024.
For assistance, customers can visit any EKEDC District or Zonal office, and EKEDC staff will be available to assist on-site on Saturdays, November 2 and 9, 2024. Lasaki stressed that the upgrade is entirely free, warning customers not to pay anyone for the process.
