Newsbreak: EFCC picks anti-culture promoter, Bobrisky for naira abuse

By Ayo Adeola

A promoter of anti- Yoruba culture, Mr Idris Okuneye has been arrested.

Many Nigerians expect him to be released based on precedent and having proved constantly to be above the law.

Mr Okunneye, a man who parades himself as a woman, was arrested on Wednesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).

Okuneye represents the worst of Yoruba culture but his celebrity has been fueled by the culture and moral decline in the society at large.

Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky was arrested for spraying naira notes and for currency mutilation.

For a country that claims to have respect for values, Bobrisky’s rise confirms the end of common sense and institutional support for emerging anti-civilasation behavior in Nigeria.

Bobrisky, nicknamed Faworaja in Yoruba culture circles was picked in Lagos on Wednesday night.

He was detained at the Lagos Command of the EFCC.

The spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale said Bobrisky would be charged to court.

Oyewale said, “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of nara notes, and currency mutilation, among others.

He spoke further “We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon.”
