Newsbreak: Earthquake rip through Sowore home in US

An earthquake has ripped through New Jersey nibbling the area Nigeria’s opposition figure, Omoyele Sowore lives.
The quake was felt in his home but the activist said his wife and children are fine.
Sowore said “I was in a 4.8-magnitude earthquake that just ripped through my area in New Jersey. My family and I are safe!”
The earthquake troubled New Jersey, Virginia and Philadelphia.
The 4.8 earthquake shook the United States commercial capital, New York City metropolitan area Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Officials put the quake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.7 and that it reached New Jersey.
The Fire Department of New York has not updated reports on the incidence as at press time.
Irohinoodua was informed that the epicentre of the quake was Readington in Hunterdon County in NJ, per governor Phil Murphy.
There were reports by Americans who experienced the quake in New Jersey, Virginia and Philadelphia.
In Manhattan area of New York, motorists blared their horns as the quake jolted the streets.
Some locals reported what looked like explosions while others said there were several buildings that shook.
A spokesperson for NYC Mayor Eric Adams said: ‘In case of an aftershock, drop to the floor, cover your head and neck, and take additional cover under a solid piece of furniture, next to an interior wall, or in a doorway. We will be updating the public very soon with additional updates.’
