Newsbreak: Bomb rocks Akure, houses down, scores dead

Scores of people died this morning in Akure, the Ondo State capital following a bomb explosion that rocked the city.
Eyewitnesses told Irohinoodua that the bomb exploded few kilometers to the Akure airport bringing down no fewer than 100 buildings. One resident said the incident happened around 1am in the morning of Saturday saying that the entire city was shaken to its foundation.
“We are counting the dead. This is a sad thing at the period of CONVID-19. The state government is making preparations to fight the coronavirus and then this bomb explosion”, an official of Ondo State Government who does not wish to be name told Irohinoodua in Akure this morning. One of the buildings destroyed was the Church of Possibility, said to be one of the biggest churches in Ondo State.
“The church was brought down by the power of the bomb. This is not accidental. There is something we cannot explain” the official said adding that the Government was yet to ascertain the number of deaths.
