Newsbreak: Armed Bandits kill Adebayo, state commissioner in Kogi State

The Kogi State Commissioner for Pension Chief Solomon Adebayo has been shot dead. Adebayo holds the traditional title of Akeweje of Eriland in Kogi State

Information made available to Irohinoodua said Adebayo was shot dead on the Ilorin-Kabba highway.

“He was shot by armed men suspected to be bandits. They have been operating in the area for a long time. They are in the forests. They are in local communities across Kogi State. Its a sad day for us”a native of Kabba who does not wish to be named told Irohinoodua correspondent in Lokoja.

Police in Kogi state said Adebayo was killed while traveling from Ilorin to Kabba. The incidence took place on Saturday

Police spokesperson, Willaim Ayah said the gunmen opened fire on the commissioner’s vehicle killing him on the spot. His driver was fatally wounded.

The police said it has launched a thorough investigation to unravel those behind the murder.

The driver was taken to ECWA Hospital Egbe
