Brazilian Football Legend’s Name “Pele” Added To Dictionary

The Brazilian football legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Popularly known as “Pele” has recorded another milestones.

Henceforth, the name Pele in a new addition to Portuguese- language dictionary which means “exceptional, incomparable, unique”It has synonymously become official.

This inclusion was made after the Pele Foundation Campaign to honor him.

The campaign drew over hundreds of thousands of signatures.

Pele, the Brazilian striker of African descent is the only player in history to win three World Cups.

He passed away in December 2022 at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo following a battle with cancer.

The 82 year old legend had made history in the beautiful game “Football” as the Youngest player to win the World Cup (17 years).

Pelé who is among the joint-top goalscorer for Brazil with 77 goals in 92 games also scored a total goal 1 ,281 with Brazilian club, National team and New York Cosmos in his career.

The phrase will be encompassed to the printed copy of Michaelis Dictionaries’ Portuguese-language dictionary once the next edition is released, according to a statement made by the company’s publishers on Wednesday.
