The historic railway transportation from Lagos to Minna in Niger State is scheduled to start soon. The route is expected to transport passengers and goods from Lagos to the North, reducing overdependence on road transport.
The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) already expressed confidence that the train services between the two historic cities Lagos commence within the next few months.

Supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda
Opeifa said the development aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which seeks to bolster state economies and support businesses engaged in productive ventures aimed at reducing the cost of goods.
Opeifa assured the President that the NRC would play a key role in logistics and supply chain management to facilitate economic growth.
“The NRC has aligned with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and will support every state of the federation and businesses involved in productive ventures that would bring down the cost of goods just like what the Niger Foods,” Opeifa stated.
He further expressed optimism that train services between Minna and Lagos would commence in the coming months, enhancing the movement of goods and passengers along the corridor.
Strengthening Rail Transport for Food Security
The Niger State Government has been in ongoing discussions with the NRC to establish a strategic partnership for the safe and efficient transportation of food items via rail.
This collaboration aims to curb post-harvest losses caused by logistical challenges, ensuring a more stable supply chain for agricultural produce across Nigeria.
The renewed partnership underscores efforts to revitalize rail transport as a critical component of Nigeria’s economic framework, enhancing trade and reducing dependency on road transport for bulk goods.
