A multi-millionaire and former Chief Executive Office, (CEO) Konga CEO, Nick Imudia has committed suicide in Lagos.
Imudia jumped from the balcony of his private home.
Witnesses told Irohinoodua that Imudia, from Delta State jumped from the balcony of his two-story building on Tuesday night.
“We heard the huge sound of something like a landing big bag. Some residents came out to find someone was laying on the floor, motionless” a resident of the estate where Imudia lives told our correspondent.
Konga is one of Nigeria’s leading e-commerce which continues to make huge impact in the Nigerian mobile commerce network.
Irohinoodua heard from close sources that Imudia earlier called his son and daughter telling them they should take care of themselves in case they do not see him any longer.
Another report said he also called his junior brother based in the United States informing him of how his property should be shared among his children.
“Nothinh made anyone close to him to suspect he would take his own life. The incidence came as a shock” Boyede Eniola who lives at the estate told Irohinoodua.
Suicide is increasing in Nigeria. Experts cite the economic and social environment as part of the reasons why many are taking their own lives.
Other factors are broken marriages and the lack of effective counselling units either by the state or non-state actors, debt crisis and the spiralling inflation which has made life totally unbearable for millions of Nigerians who are compelled to live in debt, misery and hopelessness.
Before his death on Tuesday, Imudia was the CEO of D.light, a leading innovator in the distribution and financing of residential solar energy solutions and transformational household products.
The financial status of his company was unknown as at press time.
