Our correspondent at Ile Ife was informed that the young man who came in a car hit the palace gate at high speed, broke into the palace and drove recklessly before he was apprehended by armed security guards.
The source said “He came in a car, three of them. They drove recklessly and hit the gate. They were arrested. Their leader was drunk and appeared as if on drugs”
The source said the armed guards who shot into the air did so to kill the dog that sprank from the car brought by the three boys.

Meanwhile, Aare Dotun Hassan leader of
Yoruba Youths Worldwide
described the incidence as “sacrilege, monumental provocation and umpardonable threats against the highest spiritual stool of authority in the entire Yoruba Land.”
The group said “while saluting the courageous dexterity and uncommon professionalism displayed by the security guards for overpowering the dreaded assailants, whose evil mission is yet to be unraveled.”
Dotun said “We hereby call on President Muhammadu Buhari to order for a thorough investigation to be headed by the Inspector General of Police and ensure anyone found culpable is ruthlessly dealt with decisively and prosecuted accordingly.”
The group called on all critical stakeholders particularly all governors, elders, women, youths, political and traditional leaders of the Southwest Zone to collectively call for an emergency security meeting over these heinous crime, pending which adequate watertight security beef up and non stop surveillance system is put in place at the Palace and all other palaces too, while demanding and ensuring to provide the best team of well trained and powerfully fortified central palace security guards.
