Lagos Millionaire socialite explained why she opted for suicide

A Lagos millionaire and socialite, Ms Farida Abdulkadir has explained that she wanted to commit suicide due to marital problems.
She was caught by passers by on the Third Mainland bridge after she had parked her Jeep and made attempts to jump into the lagoon.
Some men were seen holding on to her while she struggled to free herself.
The Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos has become a death kernel for many who wish to end their Iives.
The Nigerian Human Rights Community, NHRC has called on the Lagos State Government to erect barricades and establish permanent patrols on the bridge to deter many Nigerians seeking to end their lives.
An official of the NIHRCO,Mr Taiwo Adeleye said the Lagos State Governor should as a matter of urgency erect barricades and provide security officials that would be present on the bridge day and night.
The popular Lagos State socialite, Farida Abdulkabir popularly known as Farida Sobowale said she was tired of life and preferred to kill herself.
Abdulkabir is the owner of a highbrow social enterprise located at Surulere in Lagos. She listed frustrations, failed marriage and many as the reason for her attempt to kill herself.
She said, “Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.
“It was love that pushed me into this. He told me that he was going to be with me, make me bore children for him.
“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.
“I have forgiven my ex-husband. May God provide him with another wife,” she added.
