Kaduna confirms 16 new COVID`19 cases from Almajiri brought from Kano

The Government of Kaduna State has confirmed 16 new cases of COVID-19 infection coming from among the Almajiri repatriated from Kano State.
Earlier in the week, the Kano State Government had sent away thousands of Almajiri from the North Western State.
Irohinoodua was informed today that 16 Almajiri were tested by the state government leading to the discovery of at least 16 positive-19 children. Almajiri is a time honoured culture associated with pupils taken to Islamic schools by their parents.
The Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Baloni earlier said six of the Almajiri repatriated to Kaduna were COVID-19 positive. The Commissioner had earlier confirmed five cases among the Almajiri.
