Irohinoodua suspends reporter over claims on Igboho’s false release, sends apologies

The management of Irohinoodua has suspended Mr Daniel Madele overn reports on the travails of Chief Sunday Adeyemi in Benin Republic.

Mr Madele reports for Irohinoodua, the first Pan Yoruba online along West African coast

Madele had filed a report indicating that Mr Igboho had been released on Tuesday and was on his way to Germany. This turned out to be false.

While Madele claimed his source was authentic based on information from authorities in Benin, which informed the publication, later developments proved the story to be false.

In a statement on Thursday signed by the Irohinoodua News Editor, Mr Fatai Ayodele-Salami, the management said the report was unprofessional and failed to uphold the kernel principles of journalism. Irohinoodua regrets its publication. Irohinoodua apologised to millions of its readers across the world.

‘We regret the consequence of this false report to the public image of Irohinoodua. Mr Madele has been suspended for 30 days. Irohinoodua promises to continue to uphold truth and objectivity in line with the principles of journalism.” the statement noted
