Igbo traders raise N1b for Tinubu campaign

Traders in the South East of Nigeria have raised a total of N1billion as initual commitment to support the emergence of the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next election.

The APC Presidential candidate was in Owerri, Imo State where the Igbo traders announced their donation. The N1b is said to be the first installment in a string of donations the Igbo traders will commit to Tinubu campaign. A source at the gathering told Irohinoodua that Igbo traders across the South East target raising N100b for the Tinubu campaign before the end of the year. The funds are to focus mainly on media campaign, rural.mobilsation, advertisements and international lobby, the source tpls our correspondent in Owerri

The Town Hall meeting drew the presence of the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi and his Imo State counterpart, Hope Uzodinma.

The N1b was announced by Uzodinmma who said the Igbo will fully support Tinubu to emerge as the next President of Nigeria.
Uzodinma said a group of anterpreneurs had levied each of them N500,000 each which total was N1b to be handed over to Tinubu in support of his campaign.

He said the South East are working hard to deliver the zone for Tinubu asking Nigerians to brush aside social media empty lies and propaganda.

In his remarks, Umahi said “As we welcome and align ourselves with you, it is important that we urge you to address this issue as by the grace of God, you become the next President of this country. There are certain positions that have continued to elude Ndigbo since the end of the Civil War. It is our hope that your Presidenxy will address this issue when you emerge as the next President of this country by the grace of God.”

Former Governor of Imo State, Ikeja Ohakim described Tinubu as a “warrior who has won the fight before the war.” He said he was sure Tinubu will emerge as the next President of Nigeria.

In his response, Tinubu thanked the Igbo. He said “I will bring progressive governance; a forward looking governance, not to take us to yesterday. My government will support entrepreneurs and stop exploitation. We are thinkers and doers. We will encourage greater productions in Owerri and Aba, establish and modernise existing hubs throughout Nigeria.”

He said he will create an environment for the growth of business

“Good return on investment. My government, our government will comprise people from every section of Nigeria. Religion and tribalism, not our fundamental problem. We will prove wrong those who want to see us divided,” Tinubu said.
