By Samuel Ogunsona
All Progressives Congress, (APC) gubernatorial hopeful, Pastor George Ize-Iyamu has said that his first four years will be dedicated to uplifting the industrial and economic potentials of Edo State if he wins the gubernatorial election slated for later this year.
He said he will unite the people and place Edo State again on the global map of reckoning.
He said Edo is one of the ancient Kingdoms in the world whose values ans heritage should be uphled and preserved.
Pastor Ize Iyamu said he had painstakingly drew a blueprint for making Edo State a reference point in socio-economic renaissance.
He briefed journalists today in Lagos where he announced his blueprint tagged SIMPLE. Irohinoodua attended the event.
He said SIMPLE is the acronym for Security and Social Welfare; Infrastructure Development/Urban Renewal; Manpower Development an Training; Public Private. Partnership; Leadership by Example and Employment creation and social empowerment scheme.
Ize-Iyamu said the agenda was written by him years back and he hopes to achieve everything he has in the agenda within his first four-year tenure.
Many critical obsevers in Edo have tipped Ize-Iyamu to win the gubernatorial election as several Edo indigenes continue to express recentment against Obaseki believed to have used the past four years fighting real and imaginary enemies, battles that have become a major state agend placed above the need for governance.
The traditional institution, workers, students and ordinary folks in Edo State are believed to see Obaseki’s reign as leaving no worthy landmark in the past four years even as kidnapping, lack of innovation, policy summersault, poverty and complete incompetence of him and his officials increasingly become noticeable.
Obaseki’s government also continues to face resignations of key officials leaving the Governor isolated in the cold and his administration weakened into a state of stupor.
Millions of people in Edo State are believed to see the emergence of Ize Iyamu, given his family background, his network within high and low, his sense of discipline and hardwork, as marking a new beginning and a significant deviation from four years of rancour and political tumoil.
Speaking in Lagos, Ize-Iyamu dismissed as false reports that he is a stranger in Edo State.
According to him “I attended my primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in Benin before I moved to Lagos to attend my law school for one year. Almost every part of my life I used it in Edo.”
He dismissed as false claims by the current Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki that he Obaseki was disqualified because he refused to share Edo money with the cabals. He urged Obaseki to stop promoting cheap propaganda adding the there is no striking achievements of Obaseki to justify his four year rule.
Iyamu said “It’s so unfortunate that what we experience in the past appears to be better than what we are experiencing now in Edo” adding that Obaseki is bedevilled by lack of vision and a complete isolation of governance from the people of the state.
Ize-Iyamu promised to ensure good relationship with the media which he has been doing right from time.
He threw the door open for journalists asking them to probe all the candidates coming out for the Edo 2020 election on what plans each candidate has for the Edo people.
