How idols fought me for becoming a Christian Oba

The encounter of a Yoruba Oba that speaks volume

The new wave in Yorubaland is the taking over of traditional institutions by Christianity.

A good example was the traditional ruler of Esure Ekiti His Royal Majesty Oba Adebanji Ajibola, JP who once narrated how the General Overseer of Redeem Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Pa Enoch Adeboye asked him to run away for three years immediately he was chosen as the King of his town.

The thrilling story has continued to echo the increasing take over of traditional institutions by Christianity

His father had 83 children but the Ifa Oracle did not pick any of them except him who had been banished by his father and who never knew he was even of royal blood

The Oba in the encounter said the journey began when he attended the Holy Ghost Service in Lagos.
In a stunning testimony made available to Irohinoodua he said faith and divine intervention of the Lord Jesus saved him.

The King relayed how Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) foresaw his rise to royalty just a day before it occurred when he had met Adeboye seeking help for her sister who was down with Cancer.

The testimony, which the King titled “Jesus is the Final Solution,” took place during a church convention.

The King recounted how his journey to royalty was not something he or his family ever anticipated.

The initial visit to the RCCG convention was prompted by his sister’s battle with cancer. In search of divine healing, the family stayed on after the event, waiting for an opportunity to meet with Pastor Adeboye.

After waiting for six weeks, the family finally met Pastor Adeboye, who prayed for the king’s sister.

However, during the prayer, something unexpected happened. “As Baba was praying, he just turned from my sister towards me,” the King said.

Initially confused, he questioned the focus of the prayer, insisting that he was not the one needing healing. But Pastor Adeboye revealed that God had shown him a vision, telling the then young man, “You are going to be King of your community tomorrow.”

Taken aback, the King protested, explaining that he wasn’t even from a royal family.

“I said, ‘Baba, I’m not from the Royal family.’ Baba said, ‘God wants to use you.'”

As events unfolded, the prophecy turned out to be true. Despite being unaware of his royal lineage, the man was crowned King the very next day, on January 29, 1998

He later learned that his family indeed had royal ties, which had been concealed due to his father’s decision to transfer him to a proxy father of the Catholic Church.

Reflecting on the experience, the king said, “I never knew that I’m from the royal family, because my father had to be the head of the Catholic, so I used to stay in the mission house with the reverend father.”

This extraordinary story not only highlights the power of faith but also serves as a reminder of the mysterious ways in which God can manifest His plans. As the newly crowned king said, “Jesus is the final solution.”

The revelation of a man who never knew his royal heritage, combined with the miraculous timing of Pastor Adeboye’s vision, continues to inspire many, underscoring the belief that divine purpose can transcend human understanding and expectations.

He said after he became king, Baba Adeboye had warned him to run away from the town for some years because of those bent on killing him.

He related to Lagos where he got a job. Eventually, the town looked for him but could not find him

After more than two years, he said God spoke to him that it was time to reclaim his crown prompting him to return to Esure. He was eventually made king. But that was the beginning of another phase of the struggle. He was unmarried. The Chiefs in the town arranged seven women for him. He did not meet them which irked the Chiefs. For about five years he had no children until he met a lady at Ibadan who later became his wife. He said the idol worshipers promised he would not have a child. Eventually, he got the first child after five years of a fruitless search. He later had five children.

He said the traditionalists opposed his marriage but that he forged ahead defying traditional wedding but decided to wear suits with his crown off. The whole episode is attached in the video
