Herdsmen stray into Soyinka Abeokuta’s house

Herdsmen with hundreds of cows today strayed into the house of Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka
Confirming the incidence, a source close to Soyinka said the cows invaded the compound early morning on Wednesday.
“Five herssmen with close to 100 cows invaded the compound of Prof Soyinka today” the source told Irohinoodua. He however said it was uncertain if any of the herdsmen was armed.
“There was no incidence. The security operatives intervened” he said.
Prof Soyinka has been critical of the lawless invasion of private property by the largely armed herdsmen.
In a recent interview, Soyinka had called on President Mohammadu Buhari to call the herdsmen to order. Buhari this week asked the police to arrest any herdsman found with weapons.
The latest invasion of Prof Soyinka’s Abeokuta property was not the first such incidence had been recorded.
An official of Oodua Nationalist Coalition, (ONAC) in Abeokuta, Tajudeen Are said he believed the invasion of Soyinka’s house was deliberate provocation.
“They are trying to tempt Prof Soyinka. They want an incidence as a prelude to attack Soyinka. It shows they are moniroting Nigerians who speak against the herdsmen” Are said.
A release said to be issued by Soyinka-s son, Oladokun, however said there was no incidence though he confirmed the invasion.
Oladokun was quoted to have said “Please send this information back down the chain and also if you know this Koiki Media who took the videos. Spreading such disinformation is dangerous.”
He said further “I have confirmed that while cows did stray onto his land yesterday, there has been no attack, no violence and no attempt to enter the house.”
