Herdsmen kill PDP ex-Gov aspirant in Rivers, 10 in Delta

Suspected herdsmen have killed a Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Mr Soaks West.

The aspirant was on his farm when he was abducted by armed herdsmen. They were armed with AK-47.

Sources told Irohinoodua that the suspects made demands for N30m which they later reduced to 2.5m.

“The money was paid, but the herdsmen still killed him. We pleaded with them but they would not listen. They killed him”, a cousin of the diseased who does not wish to be name told Irohinoodua.

He said Soaks has gone to inspect his poultry farm in Aluu when he was whisked away by the herdsmen who came with sophisticated weapons.
“This is shocking to us. We do not know why they should kill our brother like this.Our entire family has been thrown into mourning. We just hope that the police will arrest all those involved in this murder,” Emmmanuel, the elder brother of the late politician had said.

Solala family hail from Aluu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Meanwhile, in Delta State, 10 people killed by herdsmen were buried this week.

The mass burial of the victims took place in Uwheru Kingdom in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday

A youth leader in Uwheru told Irohinoodua that the killing has raised greater prospect of on security in the area. ” Ten people is a lot. It’s even painful they came from foreign land to kill us. From what has happened, it’s clear deaths have come to our land and we are no longer safe’, he told Irohinoodua
