Oyebanji suspends Commissioner for indiscipline

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has suspended one of the newly sworn in Commissioners for indiscipline

Oyebanji gave the newly inaugurated Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, Mr Olaiya Atibioke, two weeks suspension.

Observers say the Governor has again demonstrated his penchant for discipline, ethics and hardwork in public service.

The suspension,according to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the State Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode and made available to Irohinoodua follows Mr Atibioke’s unauthorised departure from the venue of the three-day retreat for members of the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries held at Bishop Adetiloye Hall, Trade Fair Complex, Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.

At the training the Governor had emphasise dedication, discipline and commitment to public service.

Oyebanji had told the Commissiones to shun corruption, disregard for punctuality and to see themselves as role models for the state while emphasising that they should see themselves as servants of the people.

The suspension of Atibioke takes immediate effect.

Oyebode said the Commissioner had left the venue of the retreat without permission and without any genuine official reasons.

He was also said to have been absent at a very critical moment during the retreat.

“He was nowhere to be found when Commissioners were called upon to sign the performance charter” the State Governor said

Oyebanji had sat through all the sessions of the three-day retreat, which commenced on Thursday without leaving the venue.

He had, in the course of his presentation, reiterated the administration’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and poor performance.

Officials who spoke to Irohinoodua said since Oyebanji assumption of office, he has shown rare leadership quality while injecting the spirit of hardwork and work ethics into the civil and public service.
