President Bola Tinubu will soon flag off the construction of a super highway linking Lagos to Abuja and Port Harcourt.

The proposed highway is to ease transportation and return the country to the long lost tradition of road travel.

According to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, the two expansive super-highways will be constructed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) deal.

The Federal Government and the Private Sector are expected to fund the multi-billion naira project.

Umahi made the revelation at a press briefing with State House Correspondents in Abuja.

Umahi said the construction of the super highway was informed by the exhaustic meeting he had with President Tinubu.

The proposed superhighways will link all major towns, cities and strategic industrial layouts between Abuja and Lagos and then Port Harcourt.
It will be the first of such project since 1960 when Nigeria obtained independence from Brittain.

The Lagos-Ibadan expressway was built in 1978 and commissioned by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was then the military Head of state.

Minister Umahi expressed confidence that the project will be executed successfully.

He said in the discussion he has with Tinubu, it was agreed to review some projects that have lingered for more than a decade and that some of them may be terminated where necessary.

Umahi said Tinubu would not abandoned the projects of his predecessors.

He said he has taken healong on a substantial legacy, comprising 2,604 projects valued at N14 trillion,

Speaking on the structural defects on the Third Mainland Bridge, Umahi work has commenced to correct the error.
