Customs generate N59bn revenue in Osun,Oyo

Nigerian Customs Service has raked in a total of N59b from Oyo and Osun states in just one year.

The figure is an indication that under a restructured Nigeria,the South West can survive economically.

The Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service in Oyo, Osun command area, Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, said that the command collected a total of N59bn.

The funds were remiitted to the coffers of the Federal Government from January to August, 2023.

Oramalugo who assumed duties on September 18, 2023, disclosed that the command has collected over N11bn as revenue between September and October alone.

The statement was made available to Journalists to Journalists during his maiden press conference, which held on Friday, at the command’s Headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Oramalugo said that the Area Command intercepted 64 sacks and 150 compressed Cannabis Sativa weighing 777.5 kg, 1, 248 bags of rice weighing 50kg and 425 kegs of Premium Motor Spirit.

Speaking at the conference on Friday, he also disclosed that other seizures made by the command included 24 bales of used clothes, one used bag, one Dane gun as well as 492 pieces of used tyres from various axes within the command’s area of responsibility.
