Gunmen attack Sokoto, death toll rises to 70

Some villages were today attacked by gunmen believed to be bandits in at least three villages located in Sokoto, the North West State. Some 60 people were killed however, fresh reports said the death toll has risen to 70 as at this afternoon.
Sources told Irohinoodua that no fewer than seven people were killed in the fresh attacks that took place on Thursday.
“The armed men came in motorcyles. That attacked the villages and sacked them. About 60 bodies were counted already but the figures of death can be more than anticipated”, one eye witness told Irohinoodua.
Violence in the North West States of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi has seen thousands of people displaced with many of them locating to Niger Republic where locals have also been detained.
Sources said more than 10,000 people have been displaced due to the violence. More than 6000 have fled to Niger Republic from Sokoto since 2017.
