As the gubernatorial election in Ekiti State draws near, a socio-political movement has called on Ekiti people to rally support to ensure the All Progressive Congress, (APC) wins the next state election.
The John Kayode Fayemi Political Movement in a statement made available to Irohinoodua urged residents of Ekiti to ensure the sustenance of the solid economic foundation that the present government of Dr Kayode Fayemi is laying in the state.
The statement was signed by Spokesperson of the
JKF Political Movement, Falana Olubunmi.
The JKF Political Movement, described as unprecedented the efforts of the government to bail Ekiti state out of economic woods.
The movement said that the Fayemi administration, which knew that government could not successfully run commercial ventures, has attracted private investors to the state through its policy of ease of doing business which include provision of land, tax holiday and prompt issuance of Certificates of Occupancy, as ways of wooing private investors into the state.
“The measure has attracted agric investment worth over a hundred million dollars, which include Ikun Dairy Farm by Promasidor Nigeria, the owner of the popular Cowbell Milk, FMS Agro at Oke Ako, JMK Rice in Ado-Ekiti, Stallion Rice, Dangote Rice as well as Promise point and Arog Bio Cassava Processing factory at Ipao for the processing of starch, ethanol and chips” the group said.
JKF Political Movement also listed the Egbeja Snail Farm at Okemesi as another agric project that has been established in Ekiti state following the provision of conducive environment for private investment by the Fayemi administration.
The movement said the cargo airport, being constructed in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state, was another project that would stimulate economic growth in the state, just as the group advised Ekiti people to sustain the tempo of visionary leadership that Governor Fayemi has initiated in the state.
JKF Political Movement pointed out that what Ekiti state needed more than any other thing now is economic growth that would ensure sustainable development of the state, as they said that though Ekiti state is not an oil producing state, it can attract investors that would make the state a big player in the economy of the country through expanding its agricultural potentials.
The group advised Ekiti people to prevent the state from being hijacked by another leader who would further impoverish the people by fleecing and pilfering their common wealth for selfish end. The movement noted that building a future for coming generations of Ekiti people should start from now by ensuring that only visionary leaders are entrusted with the treasury of the state.
JKF Political Movement said that Ekiti state would have been better placed if past leaders of the state have embarked on the economic development strategy of Governor Fayemi. It called on traditional rulers, well to do citizens of the state and other Ekiti people at home and those in the diasporas to join hands with Governor Fayemi to ensure establishment of more private industries to boost the economy of the state.
The group explained in a press release by its spokesperson, Mrs Olubunmi Falana that there is hope in the horizon now that Ekiti state would one day stop depending entirely on allocations from the federation account for its survival, if subsequent administrations continue to build on the solid economic foundation that Dr. Kayode Fayemi is laying in the state.
It therefore urged the people of the state to ensure continuity of the economic development of Ekiti state by ensuring that Governor Fayemi’s regime is succeeded by another APC government, just as a similar arrangement has sustained the developmental strides of the Tinubu administration in Lagos state.
JKF Political Movement appealed to APC leaders at the party and government levels in the state to bury the hatchet among themselves, carry party members along and compensate loyalists of the party, while they pacify aggrieved members and assist the government to fulfill all campaign promises.
The group says meeting these conditions would assist the party in breaking the jinx in Ekiti state of a party not succeeding itself at the Oke Bareke government house.
