Group asks Nigerians to shun violence during August protest

By Samuel Ogunsona

As the nationwide protests from August 1st to 10th approach, the Progressive Pathfinders, led by Dr. Sunny Ajose, has appealed to all concerned Nigerians to prioritize peaceful protest.

In a press release issued in Lagos and made available to Irohinoodua, Director General Comrade Dele Ogunsakin urged organizers and participants to commit to peaceful and orderly conduct and shelve all forms of violence.

The group in the statement acknowledge the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and protest, but emphasize the importance of conducting demonstrations without violence or destabilizing actions.

“Violence and lawlessness will only undermine the cause, while peaceful protests reflect a mature approach to expressing dissatisfaction and seeking change.

“We believe in constructive engagement and dialogue as the foundation of democratic progress. While recognizing genuine concerns about economic hardships and other issues, we also believe that cooperation and support for the current administration can address these challenges more effectively.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has outlined comprehensive plans to transform the nation, including economic revitalization, infrastructure improvement, enhanced security, and job creation for youth.” The group stated

The group further implore Nigerians to give this administration the necessary support and time to implement these plans.

“Let us prioritize peace and stability, channeling our energies towards supporting initiatives that drive our nation forward and holding leaders accountable through democratic means. We seek understanding and cooperation from all Nigerians, remaining committed to Nigeria’s progress and unity.” Group stated.
