By Samuel Ogunsona

Four boys who were kidnapped were kept at the National Stadium by their abductors, the Lagos State police have said.

The police said the four boys have been missing since October until they were discovered in a secluded place through the efforts of the Chief Security Officer at the Stadium.

Following the tip off, the Lagos police arrested a 51-year-old man, Austin Kanu who leads the gang responsible for the abduction.

It is not clear if there are other victims hidden at the country’s most magnificent sports complex where thousands of people visit everyday for sports and games.

Observers suggest that with the new development, kidnappers may have devised another means of keeping their victims in public buildings. It remains a source of worry to observers why such a public building would be used without the knowledge of government officials

The Lagos Police command’s spokesperson, SP Benjami Hundeyin on Tuesday in a statement made available to Irohinoodua that the victims were rescued by the police.

Incidentally, there is a police command at the National Stadium where the four boys were kept plus two gates manned by security operatives.

Hundeyin said the police have handed over the victims to their families.
while suspect, Austin Kanu has been arrested.

Hundeyin said
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect lured the victims from Ogba and Agege areas to Surulere.
“Their parents, when contacted, confirmed that the boys had been missing since the early hours of Oct. 29, 2022.
”Suspect will be arraigned at the conclusion of the ongoing investigation,” he said.
