The Fulani across Nigeria are victims of marginalization, former Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yugudu has said. He said the Fulani in Nigeria supply minimum of 1 million cows wondering why the country has been quite unfair to them.
According to him, the Federal Government should as a matter of urgency release huge sum of money for pastoralists. Yagudu spoke during his validation exercise of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
He said “What Im saying in essence is that the Nigerian State has not been fair to these people. When the White man came, he respected them because they were his source of revenue, not only that he provided cattle routes from Maiduguri to Otukpo, from Sokoto to Lokoja and Ilorin, and these infrastructure were provided by the white people.”
He said the breeding ground for armed Fulani was created by the socio-economic conditions of the Nigerian state.
He said if the Federal Government could fund Agriculture, there was no reason why the same government should not fund nomads.
He said “It is their making that they are what they are today. How did you create banditry from a people that have never known banditry? They have never been known to be bandits but stick-carrying people.”
