FG says reports on school resumption in November false
By Ahmed Idowu
The Federal Government has said that no decision has been taken on the resumption date for private and secondary schools nationwide. It dismissed any contrary report as misleading.
This week, a letter issued in the name of the Federal Ministry of Education claimed the Ministry had directed all private and public schools to resume in November 2020.
Speaking today at a media briefing monitored by Irohinoodua, the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu said the report was false.
He said Most of these are fake news. The letter did not emanate from the Ministry of Education.”
He said if the Ministry was to address the nation, it would not have done so on the social media but would have employed best practices
“ It won’t be a letter that will be distributed on social media. The grammar, the date is wrong,” the Minister said.
The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola said the country has addressed the issue of expired visas for those who were in Nigeria at the time of the lockdown. The Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed said the Federal Government was yet to ascertain the cause of deaths in Kano adding that efforts would be made to get to the root of the matter.
speaking iThe Ministry of Education is not running at full speed. All students that went out on scholarship are adequately catered for. We have provisions already made with CBN.
