FG Declares Tuesday public holiday for 64th Independence Day

The Federal Government has officially declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made the announcement on Saturday through a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.

In his address, Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad, commending their patience and hard work. He assured that the sacrifices made by citizens would not go unrecognized.

Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to reflect on the efforts of the nation’s past heroes and to draw inspiration for the challenges ahead, emphasizing that unity is essential to achieving the country’s aspirations.

As he extended his best wishes for a joyful Independence Day celebration, the minister encouraged Nigerians to remain committed to the cause of nation-building.
