The father of Vera Omozuwa, The University of Benin undergraduate who was brutally raped and clubbed to death in a church has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to save his life from unknown callers threatening to eliminate him.
Mr Johnson Omozuwa has been receiving threats of death from strange telephone calls. He believes the threat is coming from those linked to the rape and murder of her daughter.
Her daughter was gruesomely raped and murdered in the Redeem Christian Church of God, (RCCG) branch in Benin by some men. Her death sparked national outrage with students in Benin taking to the streets in protest. The Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has said he would ensure justice for the victim. The police claimed one suspect has been arrested and the investigation continues.
Omozuwa made this known while speaking with journalists in his house on Friday. In the interview which was monitored by Irohinoodua ,Omozuwa called on Inspector General of Police, (IG), Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) Zone five
He explained that some unknown persons have been calling through his friend’s phone warning him to mind his utterances or be dealt with. He therefore called for protection for him, his family members so that further harm would not come to them.
He urged the police to intensify their efforts to apprehend those behind the murder of his daughter and let justice take its cause.
When contacted the Edo State police command assured that they are working very hard to get to the root of the matter. The Public Relations Officer Edo State command DSP Chidi Nwabuzo explained further that the case had been transferred to the Homicide section of the Force Headquarter in Abuja where further investigation will be done
