Several farmers took to the streets in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Tuesday.
The farmers are protesting the killing of three of their members by nomadic terrorists.
The protesters brought the corpses of those killed to the Alagbaka area blocking the entrance to the office of the Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa.
The farmers came from farm settlements located in Ala area of the Akure North Local Government of Ondo State.
Three farmers were killed by suspected herdsmen in the early hours of Tuesday.
A similar protest took place last month over the killing of 14 people in some nuclear settlements near Akure, the State Capital.
Earleir, five people were mauled down by suspected herdsmen at Aba Oyinbo community in Akure North Local.
That was two weeks after some 14 farmers were killed in cold blood by gunmen in the following communitie:Ademekun, Aba Pastor, Aba Sunday, and Alajido.
One of the farmers told Irohinoodua correspondent that the farmers have lost patience in the face of brutal attacks, rape and what he called “butchering of innocent women and children.”
He said “We brought the corpses here to show our anger. How many times are we going to cry? How many people will die before Ayedatiwa wakes up from slumber? We have never had it so bad. Women can’t sleep. Children shiver with fear all night. Farmers can’t to to farms because they would be murdered and we have a governor grinning from ear to ear as his own people are being murdered in the most savage manner”
Another protester, Alhaji Abiodub Hamzat said what he sees is orchestrated and well coordinated terrorism spreading across the South West territories.
“The risk of conquest is here. Our governors are sleeping and snoring. It’s a pity this governor seems not to value life.”
A prominent businessman in Akure and owner of Klass Five Hotel, Adesoji Adeleye was also shot dead on the same Tuesday. It is uncertain if the cases are linked.
