Bishop Feyi was arrested and charged for alleged rape of two members of his Church. The Bishop was ordered to deposit his international passport to the registrar of the Court

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday sent a the self acclaimed prophet, Daniel Oluwafeyiropo popularly known as Bishop Feyi for alleged rape of two members of his church.

One of the rape victims is said to be a Pastor at “I Reign Christian Ministry” owned by Bishop Feyi.

The allegations have raised fresh doubts about Bishop Feyi’s spiritual status and the credibility of his Church.

Justice Ramon Oshodi ordered that Daniel Feyi be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the time he meets bail conditions.

Bishop Feyi had said that Bola Tinubu would come first in the Presidential race, that Peter Obi would come second while Atiku Abubakar would come third. He said there would be riots and Obi would be arrested but later sworn in. He goofed. Not only did Atiku came second, Obi came a distant third
Since the election held on February 25, there has not been any riot.

Many observers see the Bishop as an opportunist feasting on political issues for personal and parochial ends.

The Judge, Oshodi admitted the defendant to N20 million bail with two sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties should have a property in Lagos State, according to the Justice Oshodi

The bail condition stated that “The original document of the landed property must be submitted the chief registrar of Lagos State.

“The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must have three years’ tax payment to the Lagos State,” he said.

His counsel Mr Olukunle Oyewole, argued for Bishop Feyi’s bail application dated April 10.

He asked the court to grant bail to Bishop Feyi on liberal terms.

Bishop Feyi has been on adminsitrative bail since March 20, 2023.

His lawyer said “My lord, the defendant was not informed on the day the matter came up for the first time before this court.

“The defendant is a well-known religious leader and he has shown by his action that he will not jump bail.

“The offence for which he is charged is a bailable offence and he has credible sureties that can stand for him,” he said.

But statecounsel, Mr Babjide Boye, asked the court to strike out the bail application adding that the offense was a serious one.

“There is also a possibility of the defendant interfering with the prosecution witnesses.

“He is a Bishop of so many branches and if granted bail, he may use his position to influence the prosecution witnesses as he is regarded as a man of authority who has the possibility of committing the same crime.

“We urge the court to deny the defendant bail because he has failed to provide the court exceptional circumstances to grant him bail,” the prosecutor submitted.
