El- Rufai warns protesters against blocking highway

The Governor of Kaduna State Mallam Nasiru El Rufai has on Saturday warned protesters not to block the busy Kaduna-Abuja highway.

El-Rufai accompanied by the Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaket, Yusuf Ibrahim Zalani spoke during a meeting with local chiefs in Kaduna state at the weekend.

Irohinodua was informed that the incident of a 13-year old girl who was killed drew the ire of residents of Ungwar Magaji in Chikun Local Government Area. This compelled them to block thr highway.

While condemning loss of lives, El Rufai said blocking the highways would complicate the problem rather than assuage it.

El- Rufai later met with the Force Commander l, Operation Thunder Strike, Lt. Col. MH Abdullahi, who briefed the Governor on security in the troubles area.

A statement released by the state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwa on Sunday said “the Governor held a meeting at Kakkau community which was attended by the village head, Mr. Iliya Garba Zarmai and members of the community.”

Aruwa, said to be one of the icons in the peace campaign said “A practice he described as detrimental to the activities of innocent citizens whose movement is forced to a halt”
