Ekiti community Vigillante arrest suspected killers of NSCDC official

Members of vigilante in Ekiti State have arrested five armed Fulani who claim they were from Niger Republic.

Locals identified at least two of the suspects to be among those that killed an operative the Nigerian Civil Defense Corps, NSDC Mr Segun Ajubulu whose junior brother and two children were also kidnapped.

Some kidnapped victims have also identified some of the suspects as those who had taken them into forced custody in the past after which they collected ransome.

The five suspects were arrested at Ijowa Ekiti in Ajoni Local Government area in the twilight of Tuesday.

A member of the Vigilante in the community Ayo Agbana said the suspected Fulani kidnappers were on a motorcycle racing through Ijowa towards Ikole City when two of the motorcycles broke down.

The members of the Vigilante in Ijowa had accosted them only to discover they were fully armed.

“They were on motorcycles riding through the community when they had problem with their machine. We went to them only to discover that they were fully armed. We confronted them.We pounced and them and tool them into custody,” Aluko Dada a native of Ogbe in Kogi State who was in the area in preparation for the burial of the slain NSCDC told our correspondent.

He said Segun Ajubulu who was murdered by the suspects was expected to be buried this week in his hometown.

Irohinoodua heard that when the soldiers in the area came to take away the suspects the community fiercely resisted.

It took plea from the traditional rulers of the town, His Royal Highness, Oba Olanrewaju Omopariola before the community could release the five suspects to the police.
